Jay Michi

Jay is a Partner at Jensen Law. He has been an integral part of the Jensen Law team since 2012.

He is a skilled criminal defence lawyer with extensive experience defending clients against some of the most serious allegations in the justice system. He has acted on numerous sexual‑assault and sexual‑interference cases, securing multiple acquittals through careful preparation, incisive cross‑examination, and strategic litigation. Jay has also defended clients in high‑stakes homicide matters, bringing the same level of precision and tenacity to each file. His calm, analytical approach and strong courtroom presence make him a trusted advocate for clients facing life‑altering charges. Jay is a member of the BC Association of Legal Aid Lawyers, Kamloops Bar Association, and the Trial Lawyers Association of BC. Jay has also been elected in back to back elections by the lawyers of Kamloops District to serve as the local Bencher representing the region at the Law Society of British Columbia (LSBC). Jay serves on the LSBC Credentials Committee, the LSBC Truth & Reconciliation Advisory Committee, and is Chair of the LSBC Complainants Review Committee #1.

Jay is committed to legal education, professional development and mentorship. He has been a frequent guest lecturer at TRU’s Faculty of Law where he has taught classes in Trial Advocacy, Sentencing, and Legal Ethics. He has been invited to deliver the Commencement Address to numerous incoming classes at TRU, which he considers the highest of honours.
